Elon Musk has announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he has lowered the major requirement for earning money on Twitter. The billionaire has made it easier for people to achieve their money-making requirements. The micro-blogging website has reduced the number of impressions and pay amount as well. Here are all the details you need to know.
X Support shared a post on the official account to detail its new and reduced X ad revenue sharing criteria. It said the threshold to qualify for ad revenue sharing has now been reduced from 15 million impressions to just 5 million impressions. The time duration remains unchanged which means you still have the same three months of time to achieve the new lowered requirement.
“This essentially means that X Premium (fka Twitter Blue) is free for accounts that generate above 5M views. Note, only views from verified handles count, as scammers will otherwise use bots to spam views to infinity,” Elon Musk said.
This is undoubtedly a lot easier to achieve for X users and one does not necessarily need to have a huge following to do that. All you need is a few viral tweets and you should hit the required 5 million impressions. Another major change announced by the company is related to the minimum payment threshold.
All other conditions related to ad revenue sharing on X are unchanged. It means you will still need to be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 500 followers on your account. You will also need to subscribe to either X Premium or Verified Organizations membership and adhere to all the guidelines and rules of the platform.
It’s a straightforward process, and all eligible X Blue and Verified Organisations subscribers can participate as long as they meet the criteria and join the program. Creators can independently set up Ads Revenue Sharing and Creator Subscriptions. To receive their earnings, they must have a Stripe account for payouts. Following the Ads Revenue Share Terms, including Creator Monetization Standards and the X Rules, is crucial to avoid being excluded from the program.
However, do keep in mind that the company has the authority to alter or terminate the program at any given time, potentially due to business, financial, or legal considerations. So far, Musk has confirmed that X will not take any cut from the money that users will earn and this will happen only until a year.
