Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in a Threads post, said that he is up for the cage fight with Elon Musk anyday but hasn’t heard back from the Twitter owner about a date. Mark, who is a trained jiu-jitsu champion of sorts, added that he proposes August 26 as the date of the fight. And now, Musk has responded to his remarks and revealed the reason behind not confirming the date. The Tesla CEO says that he might first need to get a surgery done before he can fight Zuck.
Elon Musk says he might need surgery
When a Twitter user shared Threads’ post in which Mark mentioned August 26 as the date of the fight, Musk responded and said that he has to get his MRI done before as he might need surgery.
“Exact date is still in flux. I’m getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow. May require surgery before the fight can happen. Will know this week,” Musk said in a tweet.
Rumours of Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk getting into a ‘cage fight’ have been surfacing for over a month now and in a recent tweet, Musk wrote that he has been lifting weights to ‘prepare’ for the fight. In another tweet, Musk also said that the fight should be live-streamed.
About the cage match
The talk of the fight between Musk and Zuckerberg began when Elon reacted to the news of Meta planning to come up with Twitter competitor Threads. Reports also claimed that during an internal meeting showing the preview of the upcoming app, a top Meta executive had said that they have been ‘ hearing from creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is sanely run, that they believe that they can trust and rely upon for distribution’.
Reacting to the news of Threads, Musk took to Twitter and wrote, “I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options. At least it will be ‘sane’. Was worried there for a moment.”
When a user warned Musk that he should be careful because Zuckerberg is a jiu-jitsu champ of sorts now, the Twitter owner responded that he is up for a ‘cage match’ with his tech world nemesis.
Responding to Musk’s ‘up for a cage match’ Twitter, Mark Zuckerberg posted on his Instagram story that Musk should send him his location. “Send me location,” wrote the Meta CEO along with sharing a screenshot of Musk’s tweet.
Musk then referred to one of the UFC’s top venues for fights, the Vegas Octagon and suggested it. He also talked of a special move called ‘The Walrus’ when it comes to fights. Eventually, the talk of this fight died down and we all went ahead with our lives. However, since the two CEOs engaged in a banter yet again, the interest around the fight seems to have been renewed .
