iPhone 15 series like coming soon: Leaks reveal launch date, price, sale, design, specifications

Published:

With the iPhone 15 series launch just a little over a month away, anticipation is mounting. As the date draws nearer, a plethora of leaks and rumours have emerged from various sources, capturing the attention of enthusiasts and general consumers alike. The prevailing indications strongly suggest that this year’s iPhone 15 lineup is poised for substantial enhancements across the board. Notably, the launch date for the iPhone 15 series appears to have been confirmed as well. In light of this, let us delve into a comprehensive overview of the collective information available concerning the forthcoming iPhone 15 series.

— Rumoured unveiling date: Traditionally, Apple has been holding its iPhone launch event in the month of September, every year, and this time around, again, things are not going to be different. According to Mark Gurman, the iPhone could be planned for either September 12 or 13. In fact, another report by 9to5Mac suggests, mobile carriers have been advised to keep the 13 September date free of other commitments, as there will be a big smartphone announcement. And considering everything, the big smartphone announcement and Apple’s usual September unveiling of the iPhone models, it’s quite likely we could see the iPhone 15 series launch on this date.

— New blue colour: While the red colour for the 15 Pro series has been rumoured for quite some time now, there’s been no spotting of the same. However, according to a Twitter user, who has a decent track record with Apple leaks — he believes that the iPhone 15 Pro series could come in this blueish/greyish colour, which somewhat resembles the Pacific blue shade of the iPhone 12 Pro series. And since Apple is rumoured to use a Titanium finish instead of stainless steel in the Pro models, there could be a brushed metallic finish on the frame. â€èâ€è

— Action button confirmed?: Many leaks about the iPhone 15 Pro series have pointed out that a new action button is going to replace the alert switch. Now, to back this rumour, the iOS 17 Beta 4 code lists nine different functions for the button, i.e. — Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate and Voice Memos. Now, previous leaks had claimed the Action button might support two or three options at launch, but these are like 9 of them, so let’s see how these functions are implemented. And by the way, 3rd party integration should also come in time, and that should be interesting. â€èâ€è

— Battery increase: The iPhone 15 series are also expected to boast significantly larger batteries. Going by the numbers, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus could sport 3,877mAh and 4,912mAh batteries respectively. Similarly, the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max could feature 3,650 mAh and 4,852 mAh cells, respectively. So larger batteries, coupled with the new 3nm A17 Bionic chip in the Pro models, and the A16 Bionic chip in the Vanilla iPhone 15 models, one can expect these phones to deliver much better endurance than the iPhone 14 models.

— Camera upgrades: Camera changes are also reportedly coming across the board on all iPhone 15 models. First up, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to feature a new 48MP primary rear camera, and while it was believed to be the same 48MP lens from the iPhone 14 Pro series, that will not be the case. Nonetheless, it is still going to be a new and larger sensor than the 12MP one on the current iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models. â€èThe other upgrade is reportedly coming to the zoom lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. So, while the iPhone 15 Pro will likely keep the same 3x optical zoom from last year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to feature 5-6x optical zoom courtesy of a new periscope lens. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also rumoured to get a brand new 48MP primary rear camera, likely to be the IMX903 sensor from Sony.

— Price bump: Okay, prices! The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are likely to cost the same as $799 and $899 in the USA, while the iPhone 15 Pro could now start at $1099, which is $100 more, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max could start at $1299, which is a $200 jump. And from the USA market perspective, a price hike in 4-5 years on the Pro models is okay. However, if this does come out to be true, the Indian prices could skyrocket to even newer heights, considering how Apple has been pricing the iPhones in India.

So, considering Apple pegs a dollar at Rs 100, and keeping last year’s prices of the iPhone 14 series in mind, one can expect the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus to start at the usual Rs 79,900 and Rs 89,900 price point, just like iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. However, with the Pro models, the iPhone 15 Pro could likely start at Rs 1,39,900, which is Rs 10,000 more than the iPhone 14 Pro launch price. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could start at Rs 1,59,900, which is Rs 20,000 more than the 14 Pro Max’s launch price. This is going to hurt! â€èâ€è— Stock shortage at launch: So, while the unveiling is expected to be on September 13, expect stock shortages until late October, especially in the case of the iPhone 15 Pro series. And to put it in simple words, this is happening because LG and Samsung are supplying the new and rumoured display panels with super slim bezels. However, LG displays have been failing reliability tests, which has forced Apple to tweak the design. And while Samsung displays have passed the test, they are facing a shortage in numbers. So, the gist of the matter is — the iPhone 15 Pro series could face a stock shortage at launch if this rumour turns out to be true.

With everything said, what is it about the iPhone 15 series that you are most excited about? And what else would you like to see in the new Apple phones? Write to us in the comments.
